Sam Shaw's portrait of writer Romain Gary appears on the cover of the latest South Korean publication of Gary's Les Mangeurs d'Etoiles (The Star Eaters). This is the fifth cover portrait by Sam Shaw from the series by South Korean publisher Maumsanchaek.
Exhibition: Romare Bearden - A Black Odyssey

An exhibition featuring Sam Shaw photos in Romare Bearden’s collage works will be displayed—some for the first time--at the Columbia University Global Center Europe in Paris. Opening January 19th, this is the first destination of the exhibition tour "Romare Bearden - A Black Odyssey". Also on view are reproductions of Henri Matisse’s Odysseus series, and Matisse’s landmark book Jazz.

The article Sam Shaw's granddaughter Melissa Stevens wrote for Biography.com to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Shaw's "skirt-blowing" photographs of Marilyn Monroe was their most viral Facebook post to date! In just two days it reached 3.4 million people, was "liked" by nearly 70,000 and was shared over 11,000 times.

Celebrate the 60th anniversary of Sam Shaw's photographs from the The Seven Year Itch at the location of the original photo shoot on Lexington Avenue between 52nd and 53rd streets in NYC! From 7am to 7pm create your own photograph #MyMarilynMoment. And later tonight animated projections of Shaw's photos will be projected on various landmark buildings in Times Square, Union Square, Columbus Circle and around Grand Central Station. 103 years ago today and his name is Romare Bearden. If you don't know his work, you should. Sam Shaw took this photograph of Bearden and one of his most famous collages, "The Block", which now lives at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC.
